Find adventure in the unexpected

Borealis is a two-month cohort-based remote work experience in Anchorage, Alaska

Welcome to Anchorage: a melting pot of Pacific Rim cultures and one of the world’s northernmost cities. Anchorage offers the amenities of similar-sized subarctic cities such as Reykjavík and Bergen while also serving as a jumping-off point to access Alaska’s rugged, awe-inspiring landscapes.

We can’t wait to show you around.

Integrate into the
Anchorage community on day one.

LIVE

New friends, while stepping into a turnkey downtown life

  • Be a part of a tight-knit 16-person cohort, making new friends on day one with other adventurous, community-minded young professionals from across the country.

  • Make yourself at home in a two-bedroom furnished townhouse-style condo just minutes from parks, trails, and downtown Anchorage.

The others in your cohort are also your literal neighbors, all living in adjacent condos — just a text or door knock away from a spur-of-the-moment excursion or borrowing a cup of sugar.

  • Explore what this land means to past, present, and future generations. Learn about Dena’ina history and language at world-class institutions such as the Alaska Native Heritage Center and Anchorage Museum, and see vibrant installations and performances by local artists.

  • Quickly immerse yourself in the Anchorage community and make new Alaskan friends through all eight weeks of the program.

WORK

Don’t miss a beat with work

  • Enjoy membership to The Boardroom, a coworking space with downtown and midtown locations that offers high-speed internet, locally-roasted coffee, on-tap beer and kombucha, and that serves as a community hub for Alaska’s innovation-economy scene.

  • Commute to your workspace by foot, bike, ski, or Borealis-provided car.

  • Get help from on-site community managers available to support you with any workplace needs.

PLAY

Explore all Alaska has to offer

  • Borealis serves up a menu of curated group activities, including a group weekend backcountry retreat, and Alaska arts, cultural, and civic connections.

  • Get the inside track from program staff on hometown favorites such as skiing at Kincaid Park, catching dinner and a show at Bear Tooth, and local storytelling at Arctic Entries.

  • Try something new — from packrafting to heli-skiing, clam digging to blueberry picking — or tried-and-true activities such as backpacking and mountain biking.

Wait, even in winter?

Absolutely. Alaska is a magical winter destination for snow sports and a Nordic lifestyle.

We’ll help you learn to skate ski, hit the slopes at Alyeska, catch the Northern Lights, or cruise the city on a fat-tire bike. Alaska is one of the best places on the planet to experience winter.
